- The official language is English, however, colorful local dialects and expressions take time to get used to.
- The temperature is about 80 degrees during the day and 70 degrees at night.

- The currency is U.S. Dollars. Traveler's check and credit cards are accepted.
- There are no custom duties, sales tax or luxury tax.
- Hotel stays are taxed at 8%. U.S. citizens may purchase $1,600.00 each, duty free, which may be combined for families.
- U.S. residents 21 years of age or older are allowed 5 liters of liquor, provided one type of liquer is made in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
- The time zone falls under Atlantic Standard Time. The Virgin Islands do not recognize Daylight Savings Time.
- No passport is required (at this time) for U.S. citizens traveling to the U.S.V.I., if another proof of citizenship (drivers license w/photo or birth certificate) is available. Non-U.S. visitors need a valid passport.
- No immunizations are necessary.
- Voltage is standard 120-volt current.
- Virgin Islanders drive on the left side of the road. Visitors may drive with a valid U.S. driver's license for up to 90 days.
